"I had been avoiding this conversation for years. She never once made me feel judged, and the plan we agreed on was realistic for my life. My sleep improved within a month."
Dr. Sara Malik
Dr. Sara Malik leads the Psychiatry & Mental Health department at Consultants Clinic. She is known for a warm, unhurried and completely non-judgemental style — creating the kind of quiet, private space where patients finally feel able to talk openly.
Mental health care that starts with being heard.
Dr. Sara Malik completed her MBBS before training in psychiatry and earning her FCPS in Psychiatry. Over more than a decade she has cared for patients living with anxiety, depression, sleep problems and substance dependence, and she has worked extensively with women and young people who are often the least likely to seek help.
Her approach is grounded in evidence and delivered with patience. She begins with a full understanding of your story, offers talking therapy as the foundation of treatment, and adds medication only when it is genuinely needed — always explaining why, and always reviewing it as you improve. Alongside her clinical work, she is involved in community mental-health awareness, because she believes that talking about mental health openly is the first step towards treating it well.
- Strictly confidential consultations in dedicated private rooms
- Longer first visits, so nothing important goes unsaid
- Therapy-first plans, with medication only where it is needed

Frequently asked questions
Yes. Consultations take place in private rooms and your records are kept strictly confidential. Nothing is shared with family or anyone else without your written consent — the only exception being situations where the law requires us to act to keep you or others safe.
The first appointment lasts around 40 – 45 minutes. Dr. Sara Malik will ask about your symptoms, sleep, mood, medical history and day-to-day life, answer your questions, and then discuss the options with you. No examination or decision is made without your agreement.
Not necessarily. Many conditions respond well to talking therapy alone, and treatment always starts with the least invasive option that is likely to work. If medication is recommended, the reasons, expected benefits and possible side effects are explained first, and the prescription is reviewed regularly.
You don't have to face it alone.
