Psychiatry & Mental Health

Compassionate, fully confidential mental health care in a private, judgement-free setting — where you are heard properly and supported at your own pace.

Department Overview

Mental health care, treated with the same seriousness as any other illness.

The Psychiatry & Mental Health department at Consultants Clinic runs a dedicated psychiatry OPD with private consultation rooms, so every conversation stays between you and your doctor. Our psychiatrists assess the full picture — sleep, mood, appetite, work and family life, physical health and past history — before agreeing on a plan with you rather than for you.

Treatment combines evidence-based talking therapy with medication only where it is genuinely needed, and always explained clearly: what it does, how long it takes and what to expect. With your consent, we involve the people who support you, and we coordinate with other departments of the clinic whenever a physical condition is contributing to how you feel.

  • Strict confidentiality — your records and your sessions stay private
  • Unhurried first consultations of 40–45 minutes, never rushed
  • Coordinated care with other departments when a physical cause needs checking

Psychiatry FAQs

Yes. Your consultation, diagnosis and records are kept strictly private and are not shared with family, employers or anyone else without your written consent. Information is disclosed only in the rare situations where the law requires it to protect someone's safety, and we would discuss that with you first.

The first consultation lasts 40–45 minutes and is mainly a conversation: what you have been experiencing, how long it has been going on, and how it is affecting your sleep, work and relationships. The psychiatrist may also check your physical health or ask for basic tests, then explains the diagnosis and treatment options with you. You are never obliged to accept a plan on the spot.

Not necessarily. Many conditions — especially mild to moderate anxiety, stress and early insomnia — respond well to therapy and lifestyle changes alone. If medication is likely to help, your psychiatrist will explain why, how it works, how long it is usually needed and what side effects to watch for, and you decide together.

You don't have to face it alone.

Talk to our psychiatry team in confidence and take the first step towards feeling like yourself again.
